Install the app outside Google Play (Android)

While the app is being published on Google Play, you can install it directly from its APK file. Android will show several security warnings because the app doesn't come from the store: that's normal. Follow these steps.

    From your phone, open this page in Chrome and tap Download app (Android). The finzen.apk file starts downloading.

    Chrome warns "This type of file can be harmful". Tap Download anyway.

    When it finishes, open finzen.apk from Chrome's downloads (⋮ menu → Downloads) or from the Files app.

    If Android says that for your security your phone doesn't allow installing unknown apps from this source, tap Settings.

    Turn on the Trust this source switch (on other brands it is called Allow from this source).

    On Xiaomi a Danger notice appears: tick "I am aware of the possible risks…", wait a few seconds and tap Accept. If your phone doesn't show it, go on to the next step.

    Go back and tap Install.

    Wait for your phone's security scan to finish and tap Open.

    If Google Play Protect shows "App blocked to protect your device", tap Understood and follow the next two steps to pause it. If it didn't appear, skip to the last step.

    Open Play Store → tap your profile picture → Play Protect → gear ⚙️ at the top right and turn off Scan apps with Play Protect.

    Confirm with Turn off (or Pause). Open finzen.apk again (step 3) and install. When you're done, turn Play Protect back on.

    When you open the app, Android may say "The app was denied SMS access". That's normal for apps installed outside Google Play: tap Close. SMS capture is optional; the rest of the app works the same.

Common installation questions

Why are there so many security warnings?

Because the app is not on Google Play yet (we're going through developer verification). Android and Play Protect warn about any app that doesn't come from the store. It's the same app; only install it from the official link.

I've installed the app. Should I leave Play Protect and "unknown apps" turned off?

No. Turn Play Protect back on (Play Store → profile → Play Protect → ⚙️ → "Scan apps with Play Protect") and remove Chrome's permission to install unknown apps (Settings → Apps → Chrome → Install unknown apps → Don't allow).

How do I update the app?

The app tells you when there's a new version. Download the new APK from the same link and open it: it installs over the previous one and you keep all your data.

I get asked to confirm several times on my Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO

That's normal: besides Android, Xiaomi runs its own security scan and sometimes shows the Danger notice. Tick the box, wait and confirm on each screen.
